I wanted to expand The Artists Way category this week. I have posted in this category previously but intend to post more now. Julia Cameron wrote The Artists Way, plus two books following this one called Walking in this World and Finding Water. In this category i will bring up stuff from the books that i think you might find helpful and i will also talk about the three main exercises that Cameron introduces in the books: Walking, Journaling and Artists Dates.
The purpose of these three exercises is to help you be more free. Specifically, in the books Julia is talking about freedom for or to be creative, but the books can help others especially those who are artistic or creative by temperament. Walking is going on a walk at least once a week; Journaling or Morning Pages is writing once a day, anything that comes to mind, without stopping for three pages-a way of clearing the mind; Artists Dates are a way to replenish yourself-go out and do something you really want to do and would really enjoy doing: visit a bookstore, go bowling, sit in a park. More on all of this next week, but do give these a try-see if you can go on an Artists Date, its harder than you might think.
