One thing I have come to realize in dealing with mental health problems is making sure your brain chemistry is in order makes a big difference. I know that for myself some of my brain chemicals are on the low side, which makes it harder to deal with problems. I have come to realize both through examples of others (person takes meds and side effects change personality for worst), my own experience and through what people working in the field have said, that doing things to help my brain function better can make a big difference in overcoming my problems. There are three things I am trying to do to help myself in this area:
One, stop thinking negatively, don't think about negative things, but think about positive things, see the positive, see the glass as being half full. Some have suggested that negative thoughts decrease your neurotransmitters and positive thoughts increase your neurotransmitters.
Two, do things that make me really happy and so increase the endorphins in my brain.
Three, exercise in a way that really increases the endorphins in my brain.
Find those things that make your brain work better and try to work these into your life.
